Annunciation Parish History

Annunciation, founded in 1959 to serve Catholics in Dade and Broward Counties, drew parishioners from Saint Stephen and Visitation parishes. Masses were celebrated in the Lake Forest Civic Center and in the Madonna Academy before the dedication of its permanent church structure in 1963.

The parish established a school in 1961 with 222 students in kindergarten through fourth grade and by the following year, enrollment had increased to 297. Today the parish’s educational complex consists of four buildings, administration offices, a school library, and a gymnasium that is also used for school activities. In addition, a parish center provides space for computer lab, art, music and Spanish rooms, and a science lab.

Parishioners hold weekly Legion of Mary meetings, contribute to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and Respect Life. They also serve as ushers, sing in two choirs, and serve as lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. The parish has active Bible study groups in English and Spanish.
